Mandala Bruny Island

Mandala is a charming 3-4 bedroom self-contained holiday home with quality furnishings, kitchenware, home entertainment, and recreational gear, all ready to enjoy.

It has been tastefully decorated to provide a comfortable relaxed atmosphere, and it fits right into its private bushland setting which is also home to countless native animals, birds, trees, and shrubs.

Mandala looks right over the historic D’Entrecastaux channel between Bruny Island and the Tasmanian mainland, with the impressive Hartz Mountains on the far horizon – the perfect scene for an al fresco coffee, a leisurely lunch, or a glass of local wine as the sun goes down.

Mandala is peaceful and secluded but within easy reach of local facilities and attractions: a 20-minute stroll along a well-maintained walking track (or a 3-minute drive) brings you to the small township of Alonnah with its white sandy beach, boat ramp and jetty, general store, and the only Hotel Bruny Restaurant on the island.

The abundant attractions of Bruny Island – including beaches, bush walks, wild cliffs, historic sites, artisanal food and wine producers, and the famous eco-cruise – are also just a short drive away.

The original building (a refurbished mess hall, transported from the mainland) features a large open-plan kitchen – living area with a wood-heater and a big front window with stunning views over the channel and mountains beyond. It opens onto a large deck, BBQ area and outdoor seating / dining space. Inside or out, the open-plan kitchen facilities let you cook up a feast while still being part of the scene.

An old wooden stairway leads up from the living area to a balcony bedroom which overlooks the whole space – perfect for an afternoon snooze, a quiet read, or extra sleeping accommodation with a double-size bed and single futon. A short passage leads to two queen-size bedrooms (both with big views), a bunk-room which sleeps 4, a main bathroom, and a rear laundry / w.c.
